March in the Markets
Here are four things from March you should know:
- The S&P 500 jumped 10.16% and the Nasdaq surged 9.11% in the first quarter of 2024
- The Bank of Canada maintained its overnight rate target at 5% and committed to normalizing its balance sheet to address inflation concerns.
- Oil prices remained near a four-month high, settling around $83
- Two big IPOs happened in March: Reddit, the popular online community, had its highly anticipated IPO on March 21, and is now officially listed on the NYSE under the symbol RDDT, and Trump Media and Technology Group, which operates social media site Truth Social, launched its IPO on March 27, trading under the symbol DJT
