We are committed to ensuring that your confidential information remains safe. As a result, we have introduced Web ID — our security implementation that provides enhanced protection from unauthorized access to your accounts.

Enhanced protection with Web ID

  • Registration is quick and easy — you will follow simple instructions to set up your security questions the first time you log in.
  • You will answer five security questions from a drop-down list with multiple questions (for example, "What was the name of my first pet?"). Only you will know the answers to these questions. This will help protect against the loss, theft, misuse or compromise of your confidential data.
  • Next you will "register" your computer or device with Qtrade Investor. If you access your account from a computer or device that you have not registered, you will be prompted to answer one of your security questions.
  • Once you have registered for Web ID , you will only be prompted to answer one of your security questions if: (i) you access your account from a computer or device that you have not registered or (ii) you are performing certain transactions online.
  • Always keep the answers to your security questions confidential — do not share them with anyone — including your family and friends.

Please Note: Qtrade Investor will never ask you for your passwords or to confirm the answers to your security questions by telephone, fax or email.

  • Web ID provides enhanced protection from unauthorized access to your accounts. By answering five security questions that only you would know the answer to, and by registering your computer we can provide you with even greater protection against unauthorized individuals logging in to your accounts.

  • When you register with Web ID, you select five security questions and answers as part of the registration process. If you log in from a computer that you have not registered, or you undertake certain transactions online, we will request that you answer one of your security questions in order to verify your identity. Web ID "remembers" the computer you have registered using a cookie. No personal or private data is stored in any way.

  • Yes. All customers must register with Web ID due to the enhanced protection it provides for your online accounts.

  • No.

  • Yes. When you log in from a computer that you have not registered with us, you will simply be asked to verify your ID by answering one of your security questions.

  • Yes. Simply select "Manage Security Questions" from the "Service Center" section under the "My Accounts" tab on the top toolbar.

  • No. The answers to your security questions are not case sensitive.

  • Please contact one of our customer service representatives for assistance.

  • If you primarily access your account(s) from the same computer(s) all the time, then you likely won't be asked one of your security questions. However, if you log in from a computer that you have not registered, or you undertake certain transactions online, we will request that you answer one of your security questions in order to verify your identity.

  • Yes. Web ID is a layer of security in addition to the login password. As a result, you will still have to enter your login password in order to access your accounts online.

  • This is not a problem — you only need to be able to answer five from among the list. When you are completing your registration process with Web ID, there may be questions that you don't know the answer to or that are not applicable to your circumstance. Simply select the questions that you know the answer to immediately without researching.

  • Yes. Web ID can distinguish from among multiple users on the same computer.

  • Computer registration is specific to the browser used on the computer at the time of registration. If you would like to register multiple browsers on the same computer, please check "Remember my settings on this computer" on the Verification Question page. Once checked, the Verification Question will no longer be asked when using a different browser.
